For the first time in the 2023/24 season, the Slovak hockey classic, the biggest and most famous derby between the West and the East, is coming to Bratislava. Košice are the reigning champions, Slovan won the title the season before. Both clubs from the largest cities have the same number of 9 championship titles in the era of independence. However, after an excellent start, Košice recorded 5 losses in a row, while Slovan was even in the penultimate place of the interim table after half of the regular season. However, a derby is a derby, and in a match between traditional rivals, it can be expected that both teams will be at their best.
